To conclude André Butzer’s much acclaimed retrospective, on Friday, 6 October, the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza will host the world premiere of Rudij Bergmann’s new film André Butzer, seine Kunst und seine Zeit, followed by a panel discussion with the director, producer Clara Freund and museum director Guillermo Solana.

From 2017 to 2023, filmmaker Rudij Bergmann has accompanied André Butzer on numerous occasions. Documenting solo exhibitions in Berlin, Madrid, New York, Los Angeles and Paris as well as joining the painter in his studio or on mountain hikes, the film is an intricate testimony to Butzer’s artistic vision. With contributions from collectors, gallerists, friends and family, Butzer becomes tangible as a person and gives stunning insights into his pictorial thinking and practice.
